Two postdoctoral research positions are available at Cornell University in the field of high-temperature geochemistry. Details of each position and instructions for applying are provided below.

• Postdoctoral Research Associate in experimental geochemistry. The postdoctoral research associate will perform high-temperature and high-pressure experiments to quantify the behavior of sulfur throughout the subduction cycle. Research will be under the direction of Prof. Megan Holycross (https://holycrossresearchgroup.eas.cornell.edu). Previous experience with piston-cylinder experiments and/or synchrotron spectroscopy is highly desirable but not required. In addition to managing their own academic research and administrative duties, the successful applicant will be expected to help mentor junior members of the research group and assist with the maintenance of experimental equipment. • Postdoctoral Research Associate in volcanic petrology. We seek a postdoctoral research associate with expertise in using cutting-edge petrological tools to study volcanic eruptions. The research will be under the direction of Prof. Esteban Gazel (https://gazelresearchgroup.eas.cornell.edu). We are particularly interested in scientists with previous expertise in reconstructing the volatile evolution of volcanic eruptions using melt/fluid inclusions coupled with diffusion clocks. In addition to managing their research project, the successful applicant will be involved in the mentorship of junior members of our research group and may participate in field expeditions or sample collection during an eruption.
