The principal function of an employee in this class it to assist in the performance of and provide technical oversight for environmental functions for Coffee County Environmental Services and Coffee County, Alabama.  The principal duties of this class are performed in a heavy industrial environment, travel is required, and many duties are performed in the field. -Maintains knowledge and understanding or local, State, and Federal regulations and laws as it relates to the management of solid waste systems. -Coordinates with regulatory agencies as required and prepares or reviews environmental reports prior to submission.  Also conducts studies and prepares internal reports concerning Coffee County Solid Waste Systems. - Operates environmental and engineering equipment
