Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Air Quality Dispersion Modeler to join our team. As an Air Quality Dispersion Modeler, you will play a crucial technical role in developing and managing air quality modeling projects for a wide range of industrial clients, including those in the steel, cement, power, and petrochemical sectors. At BSM we are seller-doers. You must have an entrepreneurial spirit, a hunger to develop clients and relationships, and play a primary role in business development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize air dispersion models (primarily AERMOD and CALPUFF) to assist industrial clients with projects ranging from permitting to regulatory compliance to business planning.
- Develop emission inventories, model-ready meteorological data, and perform model simulations to predict air pollutant concentrations and impacts.
- Generate detailed reports, including modeling results, data analysis, and recommendations for clients and regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including environmental scientists, engineers, and regulatory experts, to provide comprehensive air quality solutions.
- Stay updated on the latest developments in air quality modeling techniques, regulations, and software updates.
- Participate in client meetings, public hearings, and regulatory interactions as necessary.
- Lead business development efforts, including identifying new clients and projects, preparing proposals, and building and maintaining client relationships.
Skills:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills:
- Proven experience with air dispersion modeling in the context of Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) permitting and State Implementation Plan (SIP) development.
- Strong background in calculating emissions and developing strategies for emissions reduction.
- Proficiency with AERMOD and CALPUFF
- Proficiency with other air dispersion models (e.g., emergency response) is a bonus.
- Excellent project management and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work remotely and travel at least quarterly.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Atmospheric Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency in AERMOD and CALPUFF modeling software.
- Experience in air quality modeling for a range of projects, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
