The Division of Earth and Climate Sciences (ECS) in the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University invites applicants for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor in Planetary Health.
ECS seeks to hire an Earth Scientist whose research focuses on physical and/or chemical earth surface processes, and the intersection between these processes and human wellbeing and ecosystem health. We seek an innovative scholar who will develop a thriving research program using geoscience methods to elucidate environmental threats, such as landslides, flooding, water quality and availability, sea level rise, degradation of the cryosphere, and other geohazards or environmental issues exacerbated by climate change and changing land use. Work that explores impacts on marginalized communities in the US and developing countries is desirable. Faculty within ECS benefit from close interdisciplinary collaboration with social science, health science, and environmental science faculty within the Nicholas School and other schools at Duke.
