POSITION: Environmental Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Solid Waste
HOURS WORKED: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday
SALARY & GRADE: Grade 16, Wage dependent upon experience
Provides expertise in the highly technical environment of Solid Waste and Environmental Engineering, which reflect the requirements of statutes, rules and regulations relating to the operation and management of waste management systems including the closure and operational components of lined and unlined landfills. Researches scientific journals, attends technical courses, and maintains professional contacts to stay abreast of emerging technologies and to ensure proper design and operation of the City’s Solid Waste facilities. The Environmental Engineer will coordinate, analyze, evaluate, and integrate technical studies and engineering plans for the operation of various solid waste facilities throughout the City of Nashua. Performs surface scans and other testing out in the field.
Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a minimum of 5-8 years of related work experience. Licensed Professional Engineer preferred. Ability to obtain a Manager of Landfill Operations Certification (MOLO) through the Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA), an Asbestos Disposal Site (ADS) Certification, State of NH Landfill Operator License IV, State of NH Solid Waste Operator Training Certification. Trained and proficient in the use of equipment used in the Solid Waste Department. Must have a valid driver’s license.
