The Assistant Director of Public Services will be an important part of the City’s management team and will need to be a strong performer with proven leadership, organizational, and motivational skills. The ideal candidate must have advanced computer skills and be adept at integrating technology, including geospatial mapping, SCADA, and advanced metering technology. The Assistant Director will regularly interface with other departments, outside agencies, contractors, vendors, and the general public, and must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders. The selected candidate will need specialized technical skills, including the ability to interpret and apply State/Federal environmental regulations and municipal codes, and the ability to read/comprehend technical drawings, specifications, maps, and vendor equipment manuals. The chosen candidate must also have proven experience in the review and preparation of budgets, proposals, reports, and summaries. Additionally, the Assistant Director will need to exhibit technical expertise in the treatment, transmission, distribution, pumping, and storage of potable and reclaimed water, as well as collection and centralized treatment of wastewater. The selected individual must hold a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university. A minimum of seven years of experience managing water/wastewater utility operations is required. The ideal candidate must have Level B Water and/or Wastewater Certification issued by the TCEQ or the ability to attain such within two years of employment. A valid Texas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record is required. The starting salary range for this position is $130,000-140,000, commensurate with education and experience.
