Distinguishing Features of Work
This is responsible professional and supervisory work providing administrative and technical direction of water treatment plant laboratory. Work is directed and reviewed through the establishment of goals and subsequent evaluation of progress toward goal attainment.
Examples of Work Performed
Directs testing procedures to maintain approved water quality.
Coordinating with plant operations and maintenance.
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of operating a laboratory
Thorough knowledge of water quality and environmental standards regulations
Required Experience and Training
Graduation from a four-year college with a bachelor's degree in laboratory science, environmental science, or a closely related field, plus at least three years of experience in a supervisory role in a laboratory, treatment plant, or other closely related setting. Master's degree preferred. An equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered. Kansas Class IV Surface Water Supply System Operator Certification preferred. Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of the results of a criminal record check.
