EDUCATION, TRAINING AND JOBS
For entry into our skilled technician positions, a candidate must be 18 years of age or older, and have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate with courses in math, science, and grammar. Candidates must successfully complete and pass the appropriate aptitude tests required for the positions they are applying for.
Our apprentice program provides formal training through academic and practical instruction in the various aspects of the skilled wastewater trades. Apprentices will become fully qualified as a Wastewater Operator Technician, acquiring the skills and knowledge to build a successful career in the clean water industry. All applicants must be willing to work a ten (10) hour fixed day or afternoon/evening schedule including every other weekend.

Wastewater Operator Technician
Provides expertise in the operation of our advanced water resource recovery facility to ensure effective and efficient operations of the liquids and solids treatment processes. Wastewater treatment operators inspect, operate, and maintain a variety of processes and equipment that treat wastewater so it can be released back to our waterways and protect public health and the health of the environment. This is a two-year program with a minimum academic requirement of 300 hours and on the job training of 4,000 hours.
Becomes an expert in the design and analysis of advanced wastewater mechanical systems, and applies the knowledge, skills and abilities to ensure proper operation of these systems. Mechanics maintain, and repair mechanical equipment, including pumps, engines, and generators, using their skills with machine tools. This is a two-year program with a minimum academic requirement of 300 hours and on-the-job training of 4,000 hours.
