This position requires a seasoned professional engineer who will serve as a high-level technical expert for the Operations, Maintenance and Construction Division. The candidate is responsible for delivering engineering services and decisions that contribute to the success of the District’s various strategic programs. The candidate must be able to effectively communicate highly technical information with various levels of staff, including field staff, engineers, non-engineers and management. This position fulfills a critical engineering role in the District’s Infrastructure Management Section, as the candidate is responsible for:
Additionally, the candidate is needed to interface with Procurement and perform contract, project and program management. The candidate will also be involved in technical review of capital project designs, with a focus on operability and ease of maintenance to ensure that constructed projects will function as needed in a cost-effective manner. The candidate must also be proficient in using Microsoft Office.
In addition to working in the office, the candidate will be required to work in industrial settings with a wide variety of technology spanning 50 years to support operations of all District water control structures, pump stations, and administrative and maintenance facilities. The candidate is required to complete planned and unplanned field assessments and perform hands-on troubleshooting at various locations within the District’s area of responsibility, which consists of 16 counties and over 750 water control facilities. Responsibilities include documenting issues and resolutions by preparing reports and presentations. State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
