The employee performs difficult professional and responsible administrative civil engineering work in the office; directs and manages water/sewer projects; grants building site plan approvals; does related work as required. Work in this class involves responsibility for the application of professional engineering skills and knowledge to moderately difficult and difficult civil engineering projects in connection with the design, construction, extension, inspection and maintenance of public works and utility structures. Employees in this class typically perform technical work in design and preparation of plans and specifications. Work assignments afford opportunity for independent judgment in planning work or in making technical decisions. Supervision is limited, received on a monthly basis or when circumstances warrant. Final review is made by a professional superior.
Requirements for Education and Experience: graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with B.S. degree in Civil Engineering; possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training Certificate as issued by State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, and P.E. licensure in Tennessee and extensive experience in the practice of civil engineering; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
