ABOUT THE CITY OF O’FALLON’S AND ITS WATER AND WASTEWATER PLANTS
The City of O’Fallon operates its own water and wastewater utilities which includes 2 treatment plants.? For potable water, the City has a 5 MGD water treatment facility with 4 well sites that can add an additional 4MGD for a total production rate of 9 MGD.? For wastewater, the City has a 11.25 MGD wastewater treatment facility that discharges to the Mississippi River.? The City is looking for an experienced manager to be the Water and Wastewater Plant Superintendent and oversee all plant operations and maintenance.? The successful candidate will be a former plant operator that has risen into the ranks of management.? Five years experience in a supervisory or management role at a water or wastewater treatment plant is required.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A WATER AND WASTEWATER PLANT SUPERINTENDENT
As the Water and Wastewater Plant Superintendent within the Public Works Department, you do an excellent job of managing the operation and maintenance of the City’s water and wastewater plants. Whether it is certifying and submitting required reports, analyzing laboratory test data, or developing and implementing division policies and procedures, you thrive in the role of being an essential part of our management team. In addition to preparing annual budgets for the water and wastewater plants, you are responsible for developing and implementing policies and training of plant employees. You continually strive to maintain good relationships with senior staff, contractors and the general public as well as regulating authorities and other water and sewer entities. Throughout the year you monitor the expenditures of your department to ensure budgetary compliance. You take your responsibility to the citizens of O’Fallon seriously, overseeing sampling, laboratory analysis and related paperwork, as well as plant maintenance and repair, coordinating with contractors during construction projects.
Though most of your work is performed managing operations, you are called upon to occasionally attend City Council meetings and workshops to answer questions and make presentations. You also spend some time preparing recommendations for plant renovations and updates, and providing historic data to the City Administrator, Public Works Director, and other City Departments. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A WATER AND WASTEWATER PLANT SUPERINTENDENT
Are you organized and skilled in managing and supervising operations of a Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant? Are your communication skills excellent, both written and verbal?
