With general oversight from the Manager, Occupational Health, Safety and Injury Prevention, the Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for health and safety programs for the Ithaca campus and outlying facilities, except for the Weill Medical College & Qatar. The primary function of the position is to manage health and safety programs, and provide technical support to stakeholders. S/he will develop, implement and manage policies, programs, and procedures that promote a safe, responsible, healthful and compliant work environmental for all faculty, staff and students. This position will perform audits, conduct qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments, and identify exposure-related engineering controls that may be needed as a result of findings. S/he will provide service, technical support and compliance guidance to the University, and act as a liaison with the University and external agencies.

A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science, or a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field with industrial hygiene work experience and at least 2 – 4 years’ of related work experience, or an equivalent of education and experience.
