OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of a Safety & Health Specialist (Principal Safety & Health Rep).
The individual in this position will perform the most difficult and responsible assignments, projects, and analysis in the Safety & Health job series, requiring advanced knowledge of the concepts, practices, procedures, and policies of health and safety programs including risk management, security and emergency response. Under general direction, this individual will coordinate and oversee activities in support of the safety and emergency response needs of OCSD including assistance with the development, implementation, and administration of safety and health programs, and policies and procedures. The individual will provide expertise and training, regulatory interpretation, and technical support to OCSD personnel; and perform a variety of administrative and technical tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility. The successful individual will possess advanced knowledge of critical thinking, analysis, record-keeping, and reporting; and will be able to identify problems, research and analyze relevant information, and develop and present recommendations and justification for solution. The individual will be able to develop and conduct safety and health training; investigate accidents and unsafe working conditions; and ensure legal compliance and policy adherence. Detailed knowledge of safety and health regulations; knowledge of wastewater operations; and the ability to train, coach, and mentor junior level staff is desired.
