Water Distribution System Specialist, City of Corvallis ($24.87-$31.74 per hour). This position performs duties in alignment Oregon Health Authority requirements to maintain water quality and ensure the integrity of the City’s water distribution system. Responsibilities include maintaining piping system operability, and responding to customer concerns and/or system failures. Qualifications include journey level skills in underground pipeline work, plumbing, equipment operation, and construction, a minimum of one year of experience in water distribution system maintenance, and an Oregon Class A Commercial driver’s license with air brake endorsement within one year of employment. High school diploma or equivalent and one year of work experience in water distribution system operations and maintenance required. Work experience must include three or more of the following areas: line flushing, flow/pressure testing, installation, repair, line tapping, metering systems, leak detection, and computerized reporting and record keeping. Journey level skills in underground pipeline work, plumbing, equipment operation, and construction.
State of Oregon Fire Marshal Awareness Level Hazardous Materials Response and Oregon Water Distribution Level I certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of appointment. Oregon Water Distribution Level II certification or ability to obtain within three (3) years of appointment. First Aid and CPR certification, ODOT Traffic Control, Confined Space Entry, and Forklift Operation or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of appointment. Possession of and the ability to maintain a valid Oregon Driver’s License. Ability to obtain and maintain an Oregon Class A Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker and Air Brake endorsements, within the one year probationary period.
Must be able to respond within 30 minutes to the Public Works Administrative offices for after-hours calls or emergencies prior to the end of the probationary period. Ability to pass a pre-employment physical exam and a background check and/or criminal history check.
