Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation's largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle's electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. We are looking for a safety professional to join the utility as a Senior Safety and Health Specialist. This position plays a key role in organizing, developing, administering and implementing technical safety programs that improve and promote safety, health, and wellness in the workplace. This position will report to the Safety Manager of Technical Programs.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or a related field (or a combination of education, training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class). Experience: Minimum of three years of direct experience working in the safety and health field. Certification/License: Must possess and maintain a valid Washington State Driver's license and satisfactory driving record.Required to wear protective equipment, follow safety procedures and exercise caution during inspections. Availability to work on call is expected.
