Centennial Water and Sanitation District, serving the community of Highlands Ranch, CO, is seeking a motivated individual to fill a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator position. Applicants must have a positive attitude and have the desire to work in a strong team environment. The District is about to begin a significant construction project to upgrade the treatment facility to meet advanced nutrient removal standards. This project will provide a unique opportunity to participate in the startup and optimization of the upgraded Marcy Gulch Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Duties include performing a variety of tasks, skilled and semi-skilled, necessary to ensure the efficient and effective wastewater operations. The Operator will monitor the performance of all equipment associated with the treatment process by conducting routine visual inspections, interpreting instrument readings, and performing and interpreting lab results.
At a minimum, applicants must have passed their Colorado “D” Wastewater exam or be able to obtain a “D” Wastewater certification within 6 months of hire via testing or reciprocity. More advanced wastewater certifications are preferred.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required and a bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology or an engineering science is preferred. Applicants must have a strong understanding of chemistry, biology, hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic concepts as they relate to water and wastewater treatment. This is a 12 hour per day shift position and requires day and night shifts, rotating monthly.
