GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Operates television camera to inspect sewer lines and uses a sealing mechanism to repair defects in sewer lines; does related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: An employee in this class operates a television camera and grouter (sealing mechanism) to inspect pipe for defects. The grouter is used to test and seal the line when defects are found. This employee is responsible for maintaining the grouter and auxiliary equipment and must be able to detect malfunctions in the television camera and its electronic components as well as replace malfunctioning components. This employee supervises Trades Helpers and may supervise other personnel who are needed in the operation. This employee is under direct supervision.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of the operation of television equipment including the skill and ability to test this equipment to locate malfunctions and to do repairs; good knowledge of the principles and methods used in constructing sewer lines; ability to operate the grouter and to mix the chemicals used in the grouter; ability to repair the grouter and auxiliary mechanical equipment; ability to supervise; ability to record data and keep accurate records pertaining to sewer lines; ability to take photographs; mechanical aptitude; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: At least three (3) years' experience in the construction of sewer lines or closely related experience in public works maintenance, with at least one year experience in the repair of television equipment, and completion of a high school diploma or GED; some course work in technical electronic training; or an equivalent combination of education, experience and training directly related to the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid Delaware class D driver's license or its equivalent. Must pass a Class II County physical examination.
