The Lee’s Summit Water Utilities Department is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Technician to operate and maintain all hardware, software and instrumentation related to the water and sewer SCADA computer system. Performs skilled and manual work associated with the installation, maintenance and repair of process instrumentation, control devices, PLC controlled RTU’s, and similar equipment. Operates a variety of equipment, machinery, and tools used in department projects, which may include a multimeter, processmeter, colorimeter, mechanic’s tools, two-way radios and general office equipment. Documents all work activities including instrument maintenance and calibration data in a Computerized Maintenance Management System, therefore must possess good verbal, writing, and computer skills. This work is associated with the operation and maintenance of water distribution, wastewater collections, and related work as required. Scheduled rotating after hours on call duties also required.
A qualified applicant will have at minimum an Associate’s degree in Electronics Technology, Engineering, Water Technology, or related field. Three years of experience in instrumentation maintenance and repair, preferably in a utility, industrial, or manufacturing operation. Training should specialize in electronics and troubleshooting. Equivalent experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
