Develops, schedules, and performs safety and health training for Solid Waste Services (SWS) employees in compliance with federal, state, SWS, and city of Raleigh standards. Researches safety standards and best practices to provide training, content, guidance in Tailgate meetings, accident investigations, and technical assistance. Schedules, prepares, and conducts meetings with management and employees. Conducts driver observations, performs accident investigations, and leads accident review panel. Writes procedures and develops processes for operations and inspections. Monitors security and SWS facilities for security issues/concerns. Performs administrative duties (email, correspondence, phone, documenting, tracking, monitoring).
Performs daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections; documents findings/results; and facilitates corrective actions. Conducts inspections to ensure conformance with OSHA standards or in response to a complaint or accident; trains employees on safety rules; takes preventive actions to promote a safe working environment. Coordinates yearly training and scheduling for staff to ensure that proper equipment and clothing is allocated. Represent SWS and partner with agencies regarding safety and compliance. (i.e. National Weather Service, NCLM, AECOM/URS, NCDA, ENCO Labs, Nother Safety, Wake County Solid Waste, East Wake Transfer Station, SONOCO Recycling, and North Carolina Department of Labor)
Duties and Responsibilities
Education High School Diploma or GED and five years of related workplace safety experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Experience At least 2 years of experience interpreting and teaching occupational health and safety standards is required. Applicants may substitute additional relevant education for the required experience.Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate level of knowledge of software; Database software; Spreadsheet software, Presentation, and MS Office software.Certifications, Licenses, Registrations DMV Third Party Examiner certification preferred.Class B CDL HAZMAT and advanced First Aid certification required preferred
