The Jefferson County Environmental Services Department (JCESD) is an award-winning water resource recovery agency that collects and treats wastewater for the Birmingham, AL metropolitan area. The JCESD serves a customer base of approximately 600,000 residents within a 443 square mile service area. JCSED is committed to protecting the environment and providing our customers high-quality effective and efficient wastewater services.
The new Deputy Director (DD) of Environmental Services will lead JCESDs collection system operations and maintenance group that includes over 3,500 miles of sanitary sewer and 186 pump stations. The DD will provide strategic leadership and effect organizational change to fully develop collection system asset management and maintenance to continue to reduce sanitary sewer overflows and collaborate with the CIP team to identify and prioritize infrastructure needs. The DD will have the opportunity to join and develop a team that is committed to continued improvement in its collection system performance.
