Under general direction, the Sanitation District Laboratory Quality Assurance Officer administers and maintains the Quality Assurance Program in the Sacramento Regional County Sanitation District Environmental Laboratory at the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in full compliance with the California Code of Regulations' Title 22, Division 4, Chapter 19; reviews and evaluates the monitoring and analyses of laboratory test results to ensure methods used are in compliance with all environmental monitoring programs and regulatory requirements; and conducts and documents independent and continuous audits of laboratory practices and procedures in conformance with all pertinent US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the California Department of Public Health's (Cal DPH) Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) certification specifications. Is designated as the Chemical Hygiene Officer.

Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, bacteriology, microbiology, environmental, chemical, or sanitary engineering, or a related field;
Four years of experience working in an analytical/environmental accredited laboratory performing analyses of environmental samples. A master's or doctorate degree in any of the above educational fields may be substituted for one or two years, respectively, of the required years of experience.
