The ideal candidate is expected to possess knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of a municipal utilities department, usually interpreted to require seven (7) years of full time experience in municipal utilities administration, three (3) years of which must have been at a middle management level. Recognized municipal utilities management and leadership achievement in a competitive metropolitan area involving significant intergovernmental and regional interaction is important. Strong leadership, communication, and management skills are required. Possession of registration as a professional civil engineer in the State of Nevada or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of employment is required. American Public Works Association certifications are desirable.
