Summary: Assists in performance of any tasks to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent. Monitors gages, meters, and control panels. Extracts samples and performs routine tests and routine analysis as required. Mixes chemicals, cleans pumps and work area. Keeps simple records. Required to check off site stoppages and pump stations as required. Performs routine building maintenance work. May operate forklift as required.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands: Exposed to all weather conditions, fumes, odors, and dust. May be exposed to toxic conditions. Medium work; involving climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, visual acuity, depth perception and color vision.
Work Schedule/Type: Full time, 40 hours per week. May be scheduled to work on any shift upon obtaining the necessary skills and qualifications.
Qualifications: High School graduate or GED. Desire 1 year practical experience in wastewater treatment plant operations. Requires valid CT Motor Vehicle License. Shall obtain State of Connecticut Class I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Certification within one year. Shall obtain State of Connecticut Class II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Certification within 18 months of obtaining the Class I certification. Increase in salary upon obtaining Class III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator’s Certification. Must have ability to interpret a variety of written and oral instructions, perform ordinary mathematical procedures, and possess exceptional communication skills.
Starting Salary: $24.75/hr. with Class III Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification.
Starting Salary: $21.29/hr. with Class II Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification.
Starting Salary: $20.15/hr. with no certification or Class I Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification.
