The position of Senior Instrumentation & Electrical Technician performs journey-level instrumentation and electrical work for the City's Wastewater Division. This position provides maintenance services within the Wastewater Division and reports to the Senior Operations Supervisor.
Examples of Duties: Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and inspection of the City's 25 lift stations and associated SCADA system. Installs, repairs, and calibrates instrumentation systems and equipment; including electrical equipment. Prepares and maintains reports and documentation detailing work progress and project operational parameters and upgrades. Reads and interprets blueprints and schematics to aid in troubleshooting and/or installing instrumentation, control systems, or electrical equipment. Installs, develops, monitors, and maintains computer network systems and software for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other related networks. Responds to lift station emergencies. Addresses public complaints, and coordinates operations with work crews of other utilities as needed to avoid interruption of services. Assists crews in the layout of installation or construction assignments. Maintains adequate stores of materials and supplies necessary to perform maintenance assignments. Conducts scheduled preventative maintenance of electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation system support equipment.
Experience: Two years of experience performing journey level craft work to install, maintain, replace, and repair instrumentation systems and equipment, and electrical equipment.
License/Certification Requirements: CWEA Certification Grade Level IV (Electrical/Instrumentation Technology: Grade Level IV), or verifiable experience preferred. The CWEA certification A California Electrical Contractor's License is highly desirable. Must have a valid California Class B driver's license with tank vehicle endorsement within six months of hire. Must not have an automatic transmission restriction or an air brake restriction.
