The Water Bureau is hiring a Senior Engineer to fill the position of the Water Bureau Asset Manager. The Asset Management group is responsible for identifying, recommending approaches to, and implementing the key business practices of asset management. This position is responsible for ensuring that the Water Bureau continues to advance in its use of asset management in the planning and execution of its operations through the adoption of asset management frameworks across the organization. Under general direction the Asset Manager, plans, directs, coordinates, and manages the Bureau's asset portfolio. Key duties of this position include: development of Asset Management Plans for water system asset groups, and implementation of strategies; creating decision making support for water system asset renewal and maintenance efforts; development and application of analytical tools for asset management, including risk ranking and business case development; continued development and application of system-wide risk evaluation and key service level list; development of processes and procedures to capture information for high level and complex decision-making in optimizing the lifespan of utility assets; collaborating and coordinating with colleagues throughout the city regarding utility asset management decisions and activities; representing the Bureau as Asset Manager for city activities and in outside research efforts; and supervision of the asset management group. The Water Bureau has been recognized as a national leader in the use of asset management in the water utility business, and the individual in this position is expected to help continue with those efforts.
