This position is located in Brandywine, Maryland
Summary: •Specializes in all aspects of environmental compliance at the fossil fueled power plant and oversees implementation and management of environmental regulatory and permit requirements as well as compliance documentation obligations.
•Provides industrial safety support for a fossil fueled power plant. Facilitates implementation of PSEG Fossil Operations safety program by establishing and maintaining accountability for industrial health and safety performance and program administration.
•Provide oversight and maintenance of Environmental, Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance with Federal, State, Municipal and local laws and regulations and Corporate Policies. This includes all required Safety and Environmental training, site Safety visits and self-assessments.
Responsibilities: •Performs oversight and compliance for the implementation of all necessary federal and state environmental permit requirements, including development and preparation of reports to Federal and State, Municipal and local regulatory agencies and implementing procedures, guidance and aids to facilitate compliance. •Provides technical guidance and administrative support to ensure compliance with Federal and State, Municipal and local regulations that pertain to employee and contractor health and safety. Develop and maintain safety and health programs in compliance with federal, state, municipal and local regulations. •Develop, implement and complete improvement plans to support initiatives to reach top performance in safety and environmental fields. •Participate in accident/incident investigations, EH&S audits, regulatory inspections, and other components of the Environmental, Health and Safety System. Conduct Root/Apparent Cause and incident investigations. •Develop, prepare and maintain records of reports to Federal, State and local regulatory agencies.
Job Requirements •Must be able to work varying hours to support station evolutions. •This position will require travel approximately 10% of the time. •Ability to research, read and interpret safety and environmental regulations.
Required Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience: •BS in Engineering, Environmental Science or Occupational Safety and Health or related field or 5-10 years of related technical equivalent environmental, occupational health and safety related areas experience in a power, or industrial/manufacturing setting. •Extensive knowledge of OSHA and applicable state environmental regulations. Knowledge of applicable state, municipal and local environmental, safety and fire protection requirements. •In lieu of direct industrial safety and/or environmental background, internal employees with 10+ years of supervisory experience in power plant operations, maintenance or support functions will be considered. •Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint). •A comprehensive understanding of Federal environmental regulations and policies relevant to the operations of a power plant. •Knowledge of Maryland environmental regulations. •Ability to work within a matrixed organization with corporate oversight across a fleet of locations. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and organize teams. •Program development and training experience. •Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills. Good public speaking and presentation skills; ability to influence without authority.
Desired Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience: •MS in Engineering or Related Science •Training in Environmental Compliance or management; CHMM or environmental/engineering professional certification (EIT or PE) •Certified Safety Professional (CSP) •Previous work experience in a power plant setting •Certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals or American Board of Industrial Hygiene •Experience with Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS ) and Data Acquisition and Handling Systems (DAHS) •Experience with web-based document management information software such as SharePoint
