OCSD is currently looking to fill the role of a Safety & Health Representative.
Under general direction the Safety and Health Representative performs a wide variety of activities to support the safety, health, industrial hygiene, hazardous waste, and disaster preparedness needs of the District; develops, implements, and administers assigned programs, policies, and procedures; provides information and training; conducts and assists other staff with regulatory interpretation; and performs a variety of routine administrative and technical tasks as assigned. This individual will be responsible for supporting OCSD safety programs including auditing construction and maintenance projects; developing and providing safety training courses: reviewing job work plans, blueprints, and permits required including confined space entry and rescue programs for Cal/OSHA compliance; conducting job hazard analyses; assigning work restrictions; issuing appropriate permits; coordinating lead, asbestos, and mold surveys. This person may participate or attend construction management pre-job meetings, Operations and Maintenance pass down meetings, and conducting safety orientation meetings, reviewing and approving safety procedures and programs, inspecting work sites for compliance, reporting discrepancies, and recommending corrective action.
The Safety and Heath Representative will also support ergonomic, fire safety, emergency preparedness, evacuation drills, and office safety activities. Other duties will include developing and delivering assigned training classes, conducting accident investigations, maintaining current hazardous waste inventories, completing District accumulation inspections, scheduling quarterly and special pick-ups, and picking up waste on all District sites.
