Renewable Water Resources, a special purpose district created for the protection of public health and water resources, is seeking a successful candidate for the following position.
The successful candidate will have an Associate’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, construction safety, emergency response or risk management or related field supplemented by five years of experience in training program management or delivery, water/sewer utility or industrial safety, facility security, risk analysis and mitigation, or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. The successful candidate will conduct comprehensive safety audits and inspections of ReWa facilities, offices, and infrastructure maintenance/construction sites, and recommend actions for the correction of hazardous situations for compliance with OSHA regulations; in conjunction with supervisors, recommend policies and develop, maintain and update procedures for a safe and healthy working environment, including those pertaining to lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, excavation and trenching, respiratory protection, blood-borne pathogens, powered industrial truck operation, integrated contingency plan, etc.; maintain adequate records of pertinent data and compile or initiate the compilation of the required reports to be submitted to OSHA and other regulatory entities; investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; coordinate as assigned with law enforcement, game wardens, wildlife officers and others regarding the security of ReWa properties and the enforcement of no trespassing/no hunting on ReWa properties; assist in evaluating, planning, and administering safety/security training programs; plan, coordinate and conduct employee safety, security and emergency preparedness training and assures the quality of the programs; assist in new hire safety/security orientation training; monitor and assist in maintaining the security access software; issue employee and contractor security access control cards; work with the safety and security task force to ensure assigned tasks are completed; recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures and equipment operations to minimize hazard; provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice; collaborate with contractors and safety/security vendors to address potential hazards or unsafe conditions found; assist with agency’s random drug testing program; monitor and ensure compliance with commercial DOT regulations; attend training, meetings, seminars and conferences as appropriate to stay abreast of legislation and trends in employee safety and security programming; serve as Safety Officer or other assigned roles in the ICS (Incident Command System) structure during emergency incidents; and subject to 24/7 recall to duty to staff the ReWa EOC (Emergency Operations Center) or field incident management, accident investigations, security incidents or technology issues, and related duties.
