Our Muskegon, Michigan Wastewater Treatment Operations is looking for an experienced Site Supervisor. This position normally works dayshift, 5 days per week. The potential exists that alternate hours and days would be required to meet facility and project needs. This could include acting as an operator or assisting with maintenance when required. The individual will be required to work alone from time to time. This position may include the requirement to work scheduled time, additional time, unplanned time or alternate schedules at this location or other locations.
Site Supervisor Responsibilities:
Reports to the Operations Department Manager and is responsible for all aspects of site operations and maintenance.
Maintains a robust site safety program that fully complies with OSHA and client requirements while achieving zero site injuries.
Ensures the facility is operated and maintained in a safe and environmentally compliant fashion that assures a reliable on stream time and process performance, resulting in effluent quality within applicable permit limits.
Routinely interacts with designated client personnel to resolve any influent water quality concerns and meets client needs, as well as maintains positive client relations.
Has a strong mechanical aptitude to perform or lead equipment repairs.
Monitors the performance of the wastewater treatment facility based on in process sampling and recommends operational adjustments or changes to assure cost effective reliable performance.
Supervises all site personnel and contract maintenance resources, including scheduling, time approval and invoice control.
Procure all needed supplies and materials required to sustain site operations.
On occasion performs hands on work in the field to expedite repairs or fill in for a vacant operator or mechanic position.
Conducts hands on training for existing or new personnel, as well as participates in the hiring process for new employees. This includes working side by side to perform evaluations of employee skill levels and capabilities.
Maintains existing and developing new Standard Operating Procedures.
Evaluates and recommends the suitability of changes in wastewater influent, raw material, or water treatment additives for introduction to the wastewater treatment plant. This is in conjunction with other technical resources.
Maintains the site database management system and supports report generation as required by the client or the regulatory agency.
Site Supervisor Qualifications:
BS or BA in Engineering, Chemistry or Biology (or equivalent experience).
Applicants must have a strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, customer relations and team work.
Extensive experience with plant operations and maintenance in process industry wastewater or municipal wastewater treatment facility.
Must be eligible and obtain Water Treatment Plant Operator certifications in Michigan to comply with environmental permits. The certification must be maintained current
Demonstrated capability to perform basic maintenance functions.
Must have and maintain valid driver license.
Must be able to perform basic control laboratory testing and be able to understand and apply results.
Must have good record-keeping skills, must be comfortable with computers and computer-controlled equipment, and must be capable of learning new operating, maintenance, analytical or computer skills.
