WATER SYSTEMS OPERATOR JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
$4790 - $5823, per month

The Cambria Community Services District, located on the beautiful central coast of California approximately five miles south of Hearst Castle and 15 miles north of Morro Bay, seeks qualified and highly motivated individuals with a strong work ethic. We are recruiting for one full-time position to fill the position of Water Systems Operator.
The Cambria Community Services District serves a population of approximately 6500 and Cambria is considered one of the most desirable places to live in California. As defined under the Public Employee Pension Reform Act (PEPRA), miscellaneous "non-classic" employees (aka new members) hired after January 1, 2013 shall be covered under the CalPERS 2% at 62 retirement benefit, based on the last 36 months of employment (three-year average highest compensation), and the employees shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of the employee paid member contribution, through a payroll deduction. Eligibility for other benefits provided to “non-classic employees” under this MOU through CalPERS (as stated above) shall be determined by the provisions of PEPRA for "non-classic employees" aka new members.
The Cambria Community Services District has a second tier retirement benefit, covered under CalPERS 2% at 60 plan for covered employees who are “classic” members hired on or after October 1, 2012 up through December 31, 2012, based on the last 36 months of employment (three-year average highest compensation), and the employees shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of the employee paid member contribution, through a payroll deduction. The Water Systems Operator must have experience installing, maintaining, and repairing water mains, water services, pipes, pumps, wells; operate computer equipment, operate process equipment; operate, maintain and repair storage tanks and other water facilities; use tools and operate power-driven equipment necessary for the performance of the work; understand and carry out oral and/or written instructions; conduct work in a manner that is prompt and courteous, while maintaining good public relations; and supervise a small crew and/or work independently.
The required qualifications for the Water Systems Operator include: Recent, three years of progressive responsibility and experience in the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical water production equipment, treatment, and distribution systems. Methods, practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the operation, installation, maintenance and repair of water mains, pipes, pumps, water wells, controls and equipment; safety precautions and procedures; basic plumbing and construction knowledge. Graduation from High School or GED equivalent is required. A valid California Class “C” driver’s license is required. Must maintain satisfactory DMV record and ability to maintain insurability. Possession of a Grade II Water Distribution Certificate and possession of a Grade III Water Treatment Certificate OR possession of a California Grade T II Water Treatment Operator License and California Grade D II Water Distribution Operator License issued by the State of California Department of Health Services are required.

- Possession of a valid California Class “C” driver’s license.
- Grade II Water Distribution Certificate issued by the State of California Department of Health Services.
- Grade III Water Treatment Certificate issued by the State of California Department of Health Services.
- California Grade T II Water Treatment Operator License.
- California Grade D II Water Distribution Operator License.
- Any other licenses or certificates pertaining to the job. We would suggest you provide a copy of any associated water licenses issued by the State of California or a copy of the letter from the state as proof of passing a particular grade license test. Simply writing you have one on your application will not allow it to be considered fully.
If the CCSD application is incomplete and/or proof of required qualifications are not included, applicants will be disqualified.
