The Collier County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented professional to serve as its Division Director- Solid and Hazardous Waste Management. The Division Director will be responsible for directing and coordinating the operations, activities, and resources of the Division. The Division's total net operating budget for fiscal year 2018 is over $40M.
The mission of the Division is to deliver best value, high quality, sustainable solid waste management services that meet our customers' expectations. It is our number one priority to continue to conserve landfill airspace through the implementation of the Board of County Commissioners-approved Integrated Solid Waste Management Strategy. The Strategy is aligned with the Solid Waste Sub-Element of Collier County's Growth Management Plan. The Division manages and maintains compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and permit requirements. The county currently owns and operates five recycling drop-off centers, three landfills, and one transfer station. The county converts landfill gas to electricity that is sold to Florida Power and Light. Future projects include a resource recovery park. Research is currently underway for investment in additional technologies, such as a bioreactor landfill to rapidly transform and degrade organic waste.
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Engineering Management, Business Management, or closely related field supplemented by nine years of progressively responsible experience and/or training that includes civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology, hydrogeology, water/air quality, environmental management, hazardous waste management, regulatory compliance, budget administration, personnel supervision, and general management; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
A Professional Engineer (P.E.) License or a Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Certification is preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsements and maintain eligibility requirements and endorsement(s) to drive a county-owned vehicle.
The salary range is $95,375.00 - $117,948.00 annually. Offers above this amount are dependent upon qualifications. Reasonable relocation expenses will be provided to the successful candidate. Employee benefits are competitive and include:
