This Exempt position works in partnership and under the direction of the District Manager to provide leadership and strategic direction in the areas of Engineering. The Director of Engineering assists the District Manager in carrying out District goals, Board directives and other initiatives throughout the organization. This position supports the District Manager by performing a leadership role with the Executive Management team and coordinating interdepartmental, important and high profile projects or initiatives. The position provides leadership, guidance and direction in developing organizational policies, processes and systems to ensure effective and efficient District operation. This position provides a high level focus on employee and organizational growth, stability, service and reliability.
This position is also responsible for directing all functions of the Engineering Department including capital improvements programs, master planning, securing long term water solutions, water rights, development and developing review, inspections and GIS programs. Each listed element to be aligned with the vision, mission and values of the District. Supervises, coaches and mentors the Engineering staff in the development, implementation and administration of related programs.
Generally, a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; supplemented by ten years of progressive experience that includes project management of capital projects from engineering through construction and progressively responsible experience supervising a team of technical professionals.
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado (or ability to become registered with six months of employment).
