The Public Works Department, as a division of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, is responsible for planning, programming, design, constructing, and maintaining public works facilities. Nature of WorkThe Civil Engineer - Water Resources is a professional level position responsible for engineering work related to the planning, design, inspection, and operation and maintenance of stormwater projects and programs within the Public Works Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: leading and conducting activities associated with the City's post-construction stormwater management program; serving as project manager for City stormwater capital improvement projects; conducting presentations and meetings for internal and external customers; and providing engineering support and analysis for the City's stormwater management system.

Education and ExperienceA Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university and two years of municipal engineering experience. Licenses and/or CertificationsValid driver's licenseA Professional Engineer's license with the State of Minnesota within six months of hireA University of Minnesota "Design of Construction Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans Certificate" or the achievement of this certificate within six months of employmentDesirable QualificationsDemonstrated project management experience. Experience with surface water modeling, such as hydraulic/hydrologic and water quality models.Experience meeting the state construction stormwater and municipal separate storm sewer system permits. Experience with the design and construction of stormwater best management practices, including green infrastructure and those providing volume control.
