The Environmental Services (ES) Department provides compliance program management, subject matter expertise and field personnel to support to a broad spectrum of environmental requirements applicable to CMS Energy’s gas and electric operations. Department personnel support operational compliance with federal, state and local environmental requirements as well as develop regulatory compliance strategy and programs, perform remediation, and develop environmental sustainability strategies and programs.
The CMS Environmental Compliance Engineer provides compliance oversight for CMS Enterprises’ electric and gas facilities that include but are not limited to: gas cogeneration, gas combustion turbine, biomass, coal and renewable generation facilities. The position requires environmental compliance knowledge in a variety of areas and media with a strong experience in air, water, land, and waste quality compliance and reporting. The successful candidate will need to quickly develop site-specific knowledge of permit operational limits, reporting requirements and applicable regulations pertaining to CMS Enterprises’ facilities.

Travel requirements are typically 20% within the state of Michigan with some out of state travel as necessary.
