The Director of Environmental Management establishes the duties and responsibilities for the Environmental Management department and functions as the appointing authority for the department. The Director of Environmental management is responsible for all divisions within the department, to include each division within Environmental Health and Environmental Compliance.
The Director of Environmental Management reports directly to the Deputy County Executive - Social Services and is exempt from Civil Service. Through subordinate manager and supervisors, the Director of Environmental Management is responsible for developing and managing the goals, objectives, and policies of the department. The Director of Environmental Management is also responsible for advising and assisting the officials of the County agencies, departments, boards, and commissions with respect to matters assigned to the department

Highly qualified candidates will have extensive, in-depth management experience in the provision of Environmental health and Compliance working for a large governmental agency. Additionally, highly qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in biological science, public health, health science, or a closely related field.
