JOB SUMMARY:Plans, coordinates, supervises, reviews and evaluates the work of construction management inspectors and engineering consultants; directs quality control activities for the unit; resolves problems with developers, contractors and the public.CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:This is the first full supervisory class in this series, responsible for enforcing compliance with laws, codes and technical requirements for developer or contractor-built public works infrastructure improvements. Successful performance of the work requires significant interface with developers, contractors, utilities and other governmental agencies to clarify issues and resolve problems. Incumbents of this class, as well as those they direct, are fully capable of independently performing a variety of technical construction inspections on County public works and contract projects.This examination will establish an Open Competitive and Promotional list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by the Office of Human Resources.
Education and Experience: Equivalent to completion of two (2) years of college level course work in pre-engineering, construction technology or a related field AND five (5) years of full-time construction inspection experience, preferably inspecting public works projects, including one (1) year of full-time lead or supervisory experience.Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment. Some positions may require confined space certification.Background Investigation: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation. Periodically after employment background investigations may be conducted.Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
