NASA Contractor Industrial Hygiene (IH) team management position, providing Industrial Hygiene services to NASA, USAF, and tenant contractors at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS).
Full time, salaried health and safety professional with extensive experience in IH programs in an industrial aerospace environment. The IH Manager leads a team of 25 IH professionals, supporting operations by developing, approving and administering IH program plans and related procedures to ensure the safety of our work force and the environment.
The IH Manager is responsible for training, supervising, prioritizing and managing the work of a team of environmental health professionals, including Industrial Hygienists and represented Environmental Health Specialists, to support IH projects and programs.
The IH Manager provides technical expertise with regard to IH programs such as: planning and conducting training; managing workforce proficiency; developing and approving hazard analyses and mitigation strategies within the requirements of approved plans and policies; supporting project cost controls with regard to IH labor and procurement actions; investigating project incidents; documenting compliance through the use of inspections, audits and industrial hygiene sampling; evaluating employee IH concerns; conducting team meetings; reviewing and approving specified IH Contract submittals.
The IH Manager, keeps leadership informed of activities in support of IH programs and changes in conditions which could impact established hazard controls and project management in general (e.g., quality, schedule, budget).
The IH Manager is an experienced professional with experience both in professional areas as well as aerospace applications of IH capabilities. The IH Manager will have a minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant professional experience (e.g., industrial hygiene and/or safety). A minimum of five (5) years of relevant NASA and/or aerospace industry experience highly desired.
Bachelor’s degree in a specified discipline such as Chemistry, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, and/or Public Health.
Certification by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) in comprehensive practice or eligible for the exam is highly desired.
Knowledge and experience with Maximo is highly desired.
Must possess working knowledge of current terminology, which is applicable in area of responsibility.
Must possess ability to handle information of a confidential nature.
Must possess ability to interpret regulatory intent applicable to assigned area of responsibility.
Must possess working knowledge of specialty segments of the business along with specific work processing, database and financial computer systems.
