The City seeks an innovative, results-driven Assistant Public Works Director - Operations to provide sound leadership for the City’s Operations Division. This position directs the development, implementation, and administration of divisional performance objectives, goals, policies, processes, and priorities of the division, including streets, traffic operations, stormwater distribution, collection, and storage systems, solid waste services (collection, recycling, and disposal), and associated facilities. The ideal candidate will be a creative and steadfastly strategic leader of high integrity who embraces a customer service philosophy.
The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in construction management, public administration, urban planning, business administration, civil, industrial, or mechanical engineering, engineering sciences, or a related field. Five (5) years of progressively responsible public works experience that has included a minimum of four (4) years of division level supervisory experience in a complex public agency is required. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered. The candidate must possess a valid Texas driver’s license; registration as a Professional Engineer by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers is preferred.
