The District is seeking to fill one vacant Treatment Plant Operator position. This position will be filled at an Operator I, II or III level depending on experience and qualifications.
This position performs operating and maintenance/repair tasks in the wastewater treatment facility at levels ranging from an entry level Operator to an advanced journey-level Operator performing more complex & difficult operations and maintenance activities required in keeping the treatment plant functioning properly. An Operator II & III may functionally supervise less experienced Operators. Operators of all levels operate under the supervision of the Treatment Plant Supervisor. In all Operator levels when experience and skill increase, less supervision is required to perform the more complex tasks. Additional duties include but are not limited to housekeeping, assisting in the lab, biosolids handling and completing special projects.
Candidate must have the experience, knowledge and ability to: 1) perform routine monitoring & adjustment of plant manual and computerized control systems. Operate process equipment, values, start/stop pumps; read gauges & flow monitors; log and maintain accurate operational & maintenance records; 2) Perform routine to complex preventive & corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment such as removal, repair and/or repacking of pumps, valves, motors, water & chemical lines; 3) Operate mobile equipment such as tractors & dump truck in the handing of biosolids & compost operations.
