The Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) is actively seeking a skilled senior planning professional with a background in infrastructure planning; city, urban or regional planning; landscape architecture; environmental science; hydrology; or closely related field, with a focus in areas such as current-planning, master planning, policy development, asset management, or systems planning. This Senior City Planner position with a Water Resource specialty will use advanced knowledge of planning principals and infrastructure systems to perform complex professional planning assignments including analyzing development proposals against stormwater and utility codes as part of discretionary land use reviews, preparing written findings and presenting to decision-making bodies, and helping shape policy through collaboration and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Utility or infrastructure planning experience is highly desirable. As a Senior City Planner, you will assign and direct the work of junior staff, train and mentor new staff, research complex policy issues through data collection and stakeholder surveys and present findings to decision-making bodies, manage politically sensitive projects, and carry out individual responsibilities using initiative, creativity and independence.
