The Urbana & Champaign Sanitary District is seeking qualified candidates for Project Engineer. This position will help develop, direct, and oversee capital improvement projects including plant, equipment, or grounds improvements, extension and major repairs of sewer systems, and process redesign. It will also assist with the permitting process to ensure compliance with ordinances, codes, and policies.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Civil, or other related engineering field. This position reports to the Director of Engineering and has the potential for advancement within 2 years. A minimum of 5 years work experience in the field is strongly preferred, but a candidate with less experience may be considered. The position also requires a comprehensive knowledge of engineering as applied to the construction, operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and sewer systems. Prior oversight of contractors and support staff and development of projects for the public sector is preferred. Experience with ArcGIS Desktop, survey data collection, and Innovyze hydraulic modeling software is highly preferred. If the candidate is not currently a registered professional engineer, this must be obtained within 2 years of hire.
