Industrial Hygienists are health protection professionals with accredited qualifications. Their function involves anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling risks associated with workplace health hazards to support management of Motiva’s Port Arthur Refinery through both individual contributor and leadership responsibilities.
This position is accountable for overseeing and coordinating site industrial hygiene programs. The position works closely with safety, environmental and other health discipline roles and understands Motiva’s requirements to creating and maintaining a workplace which is compliant with all local, state and federal regulations, and continually striving for improvement with an ultimate goal of achieving industry best practice. The role will provide advice on professional, regulatory and/or company standards, exposure limits, and professional judgment regarding the adequacy of workplace controls. Additional responsibilities include overseeing certain field initiatives in Health and Safety, Emergency Response, and Turnaround Safety to ensure programs continue to be effective and compliant.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical background in the oil and gas industry, excellent project management skills, the innate ability to analyze and evaluate data to direct and/or produce required documentation and submittals as well as the ability to work and communicate across all levels of the organization.
The position will supervise 1-3 Motiva personnel and 3-6 contractors.
