This position is located in the Directorate for Public Health, Industrial Hygiene (IH) Department in Yokosuka, Japan. Priority consideration will be given to military spouse preference and family member preference eligible residing in the commute area of the duty location for this position. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily.Military Spouses and Family Members may apply 30 days before their anticipated arrival date. Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science that was accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable); OR possess a Bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene. The degree was accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable); OR possess a Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
