UNIT DIRECTOR – 4 positions
The Unit Director is responsible for operationalizing the research management strategy resulting in increased value to subscribers and ensuring that the research program is scientifically credible and responsive to subscribers.
Each Unit Director manages one of the Research Services units: Source and Receiving Waters, Infrastructure, Treatment and Utility Management. The Unit Director reports directly to the Chief Research Officer(CRO) and each has administrative support. While each Unit Director is responsible for a group of research managers, the overall expectation of the Unit Directors is collaboration; unity in communication, process and partnerships; and attainment of objectives as a combined entity.
The incumbent will promote collaboration and consistency among units in the areas of Knowledge Management, Project Management, Research Planning. Responsibilities are as follows:
Participate in staff interviews and selection processes; orientation, training, and development of unit staff. Communicate job expectations; plan, monitor, and evaluate job results; perform supervisory responsibilities according to WRF policies and applicable state and federal employment laws; evaluate employee performance in attaining WRF objectives, alignment with WRF values and policy; resource management aligned with WRF objectives; allocate resources, services and staffing within budget.
Demonstrate WRF values within the organization, subscribers and other stakeholders.
Office environment. May work out of Denver or Alexandria, VA offices.

What you bring to WRF and the position:
Education and Experience preparation
Extensive knowledge in a technical field equivalent to a Master's degree in engineering, biological science, environmental science, chemistry, or management.
7 to 10 years in a water-related field
2 to 3 years in a management capacity
