Job SummaryAdvanced level ESH Point of Contact providing support for three research facilities within the Materials and Chemical Science and Technology (MCST) Directorate at NREL. These facilities support research that ranges from foundational science to industry-relevant applied R&D for renewable energy and energy efficiency. Research focus areas include: Materials Science and Characterization, Chemistry and Nanoscience, Photovoltaics, and Fuel Cells and Hydrogen.
- Conducting advanced risk assessments
- Responding to staff inquiries and requests for assistance on ESH matters
- Completing code compliance reviews
- Reviewing plans and drawings for future research projects, including performing design reviews
- Presenting ESH information at meetings
- Assisting in resolution of ESH concerns and problems
- Reviewing safe operating procedures
- Developing and implementing workplace exposure monitoring plans
- Performing safety assessments and readiness reviews prior to operation of new/changed research experiments
- Interacting with researchers, line management, research operations managers, and senior management
