The City of Fresno is currently accepting applications for Solid Waste Safety and Training Specialist. Under general supervision, incumbents assess the safety and training needs of the Solid Waste Management Division; designs and implements training programs to meet identified needs. Investigate accidents/injuries and develop safety measures to correct unsafe work practices. The Solid Waste Management Division strives to ensure the preservation of our community's environment, collect and manage Green Waste, Refuse and Recyclables in a professional, safe and efficient manner through teamwork, education and high quality service. The Solid Waste Safety and Training Specialist position significantly contributes to meeting this mission through encouraging safe operations of and for waste collection drivers. One (1) vacancy currently exists in the Solid Waste Management Division of the Public Utilities Department. The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies.
These are entrance requirements to the competitive examination and do not assure a place on the eligible list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications on or before the posted filing deadline in order to qualify. TO QUALIFY, an applicant must have: - Two years of experience in solid waste collection and disposal driving a vehicle requiring a Class B License, or equivalent, which includes one year of lead or training experience. Must possess a valid Class B California Driver's License at time of appointment and maintain a valid Class B California Driver's License for the entire term of employment in this class. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current copy of their driving record.
