RESPONSIBILITIES: The WTT Instructor has primary responsibility for the WTT program including recruitment, curriculum development, instruction, and student guidance. Will need to instruct on-campus, on-line and potentially at off-site locations in the operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater treatment systems (including water distribution, wastewater collection systems and solids disposal). This person will collaborate with current industry personnel in the development of curriculum that meets identified industry workforce skills for students to gain employment and ultimately obtain State of Maine Water and/or Wastewater Certifications.
QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental studies or a related field; a minimum of 5 years of occupational experience directly related to water or wastewater treatment operations and management. Hold a minimum of Class III Water License and at least a Grade III Wastewater Certification. Candidates with only the required professional credentials and work experience will be considered. Member of at least one water and/or wastewater professional association.
Teaching/training experience including working with diverse adults to meet learning objectives is preferred. Mix of theoretical and practical knowledge and the ability to communicate the information is important. Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum, work with technology to prepare presentations and identify appropriate materials and equipment for training.
