The Occupational and Biosafety Manager is responsible for managing all laboratory and occupational safety programs including biosafety, chemical safety, hazard communication, respiratory protection, safety training, safety inspections, accident/incident investigation, job safety analysis, and management of the Environmental Health and Safety Database. The position supervises two subordinate positions.
8 years of experience is required with a demonstrated progression of responsibility. A bachelor’s degree in safety or a related discipline which may include: environmental health, chemistry, biology, biomedical/health sciences is also required. A master’s degree is preferred. Secondary safety certifications are also preferred (i.e., CSP, RBP, CBSP, OSHA 30, and HAZWOPER 40). Extensive knowledge and application of relevant regulations is required and includes: OSHA, NIH, CDC, DOT, IATA, EPA, DEA scheduled substances, BMBL, BOCA, etc. Only applications from individuals in the local commuting area (greater DC metro) will be reviewed due to time constraints.
