The purpose of this classification is to oversee the daily operations of the Sanitation Department. Duties include managing the Municipal Solid Waste Landfill, three transfer stations, the animal crematory, roll off services, composting operations, risk management, and engineering consulting firms. The Assistant Director of sanitation also serves as the department contact for Purchasing, Project Manager for construction and handles Fleet Specifications. It is differentiated from the Deputy Director PW Sanitation in that this position reports to the Deputy Director.

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Social Work, Human Resource Management, other behavior sciences, or a related field required; supplemented by five years of progressively responsible experience in human resource management, public and business administration, solid waste management, or public works to include lead or supervisory experience and seven years of experience in the field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
