Position will develop, implement, review, and update an assortment of Utilities related programs including Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG), Lead awareness, Dental Mercury Awareness, Backflow Prevention, and potentially other programs to benefit the water and wastewater utilities. May assist with the implementation and management of the Inflow & Infiltration Program. Program development may include management of processes and procedures; ordinances and policies; fee structures; data and information handling; and customer contact and interaction. Duties may include educational outreach efforts, inspection of properties that may be affected by the programs, monitoring of program performance and success, and enforcement of requirements as needed. Preparation of reports and recordkeeping will be an integral part of the job duties. Performs industry surveys, tests, studies, and evaluations to identify new businesses or properties that may be affected by a program. Duties include managing budgeted funds; acquiring materials, data management; contracted services; safety compliance and other tasks as assigned; and require competency in use of various computer programs and other technologies.
Equivalent to completion of an Associate’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related field with Bachelor’s Degree preferred and 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in pre-treatment programs, environmental program development, inspections/evaluations/verification, laboratory, plumbing, water quality, or related field. The successful candidate will be approachable; collaborative; innovative; demonstrate high personal integrity; responsive to the community and able to create and maintain a strong team environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills that lead to proven conflict resolution with customers are critical. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer technologies. Must possess or have the ability to obtain job-required certifications to maintain employment. This position does require a valid Kansas Driver’s License. The successful candidate must pass the background check, post-offer City physical and drug screen.
